29 Days Remain in 2024
A Question and an Image to Spark Creativity during the #last100days2024
Welcome to my #last100dayproject!
There are 29 days left in 2024.
At this time in my life, the holidays do not disrupt my writing practice. There is no "catching up" for me- it is just the regular practice that is my daily life. If I am busier I always have my notebook with me and can write just about anywhere. I also make notes on my phone.
This time of year tempts me to sign up for writing classes that fill my inbox with discounted offers. I have to be careful of this practice. Several winters ago I signed up for so many classes from writers I respected but the overwhelm of learning almost broke my writing practice. It taught me to rely on what I know to be true. I need to read well and write in response to that reading. I also need to reread and spend time revising. I need to go back to exercises that I know work for me and my writing.
I have been unsubscribing from multiple newsletters and email lists that I do not read or do not find inspiring. The problem is, I feel like I have to do this every day. The ones I am fueled by and use as writing inspiration I keep but I am trying to discern my time more gracefully for my goals.
One of those goals is for me to choose a new word for the year 2025. No words have come to me yet so that might be a freewrite in my notebook.
Today’s questions: It's holiday time! Are the holidays a time to catch up or fall behind on writer goals?
Today’s image:
For the last 100 days, I invite you to join me and experiment.
Each day for the remainder of the year I will share a question and a photo of an item.
You are welcome to write into the question and/or the photo.
Or you can start a new ritual or experiment of your own creation.
I would love to hear about your progress on whatever project you want to begin!
**NOTE**
I do not share drafts of work online because most publications considered this published. You are more than welcome to share your piece in the comments, an excerpt or an update.
I hope for the comments to be a community for us to share these wins.
A little more about me: Tammy L. Evans is a writer, teacher, and coach living in a tiny house on a peninsula with her husband and adventure cat. Her location device is her loud laugh. She is working on a non-fiction book about how to submit and publish your first pieces. She is the creator and host of THE BRADBURY TRIO COURSE. Her poetry has been published in The Storyteller, FoxGlove Journal, Story Hall, Blue Insights, The Partnered Pen, and others. Her fiction has been published in Gone Lawn, Cabinets of Heed, Spelk, Five on the Fifth, Clover and White, Fiction Berlin Kitchen, and others.
Thinking of my writing life and holidays: Perhaps the best thing during holidays is to accept what is. What gets written, gets written, what not, let it go.
