Welcome to my #last100dayproject!
What will you do with the remaining 33 days of 2023?
Today’s prompt:
What image or memory comes to mind when you think of the word “stack”?
One of the techniques James Clear writes about in Atomic Habits is habit stacking. In order to start a new habit it can be easier to attach it to something you already honor as a habit.
I have stacked the habit of writing with my habit of drinking coffee.
I have been known to do a set of pushups after I brush my teeth.
Other people have glasses of water after certain mundane tasks they do every day.
Items are stacked. Plates, books, papers, presents under a tree.
I once got into a huge argument with someone for not stacking the plates in the cabinet a certain way. He believed the only right way was to stack the same style of plate together. (We had various styles of dinner plates.) I just put them in the stack in whatever order I took them out of the dishwasher. It wasn’t important to me how they were stacked. Of course, if he had not waited to tell me this for 15 years I could have saved him some irritation.
I invite you to search your notebooks and drives for the prompt word and see what drafts you have that you can resurrect and revise.
What will you write today?
A list
A metaphor
A memory
One sentence
A conversation imagined between you and a stranger
Whatever you choose - have fun!
Happy writing!
I invite you to leave a comment!
You belong simply because you are here.
