Welcome to my #last100dayproject!
There are 65 days left of the year 2023.
I give you permission to begin today!
Today’s prompt:
What image or memory comes to mind when you think of “flying”?
Do you imagine birds, airplanes, dreams, something else?
I used to be terrified of flying in airplanes. I am not sure where the fear stemmed from, but I needed to fly for a job I had and was tired of having the anxiety. I told myself the story that the pilot and flight attendants were not going to get on a plane knowing it was going to crash. They had families too. Since then, I have been a lot better.
My first plane ride was just before my 7th birthday to Georgia. My Opa was working there and I had come to visit. There was a thunderstorm with lightning. I do remember meeting the pilot and also getting wings. That incident did not make me afraid.
There was another time we had tickets for a flight and I worried about it for about a week previous. I kept telling myself the story about the pilot and his family and couldn’t shake the bad feeling. We went up to the desk to check in and were told we were being put on a different plane because of mechanical failure. “I knew it!” The plane they put us on was small and I was still panicked. I really thought I was going to die. I sent a few texts saying things I thought I might never have the chance to say again and then turned my phone off.
I invite you to search your notebooks and drives for the prompt word and see what drafts you have that you can resurrect and revise.
What will you write today?
A list
A metaphor
A memory
One sentence containing the word
A 6 sentence story (Like Meg Pokrass)
A 10 sentence story (like Erin Morgenstern)
Whatever you choose - have fun!
Happy writing!
I invite you to leave a comment!
You belong simply because you are here.
