Welcome to my #last100dayproject!
What are you focusing on for the remainder of 2023?
There are 84 days left of the year 2023.
You can begin today! I give you permission!
What do you want to make a priority for the remainder of the calendar year?
Maybe you want to read for 10 minutes a day for the rest of the year (set a timer! It helps!)
If you are pulled and inspired by several ideas why not try a project for a week to try it out? You could write one line for a week to develop a poem by the end of the week/month/designated period of time.
Today’s prompt:
Today’s prompt is brought to you by my husband, Chris.
While we drive to work we pass many many farmed fields. What happens if you personify the stalks who wake up one morning and find all their friends are gone and they are the only ones left? When do they realize they will never be harvested? Or do they understand what happened to everyone else?
What image or memory comes to mind when you think of corn? I have lived in Indiana most of my life, so corn was a staple in my environment and my plate.
One time I was on a long car ride and was in that slap happy giggly mood and corn became the trigger word for laughter. The laughter where you cannot breathe and it works your ab muscles and it is delicious.
Do you like corn? Do you have favorite recipes that uses corn?
For Thanksgiving I make corn bake. I also make a wicked corn and ham chowder (Thanks to Salt and Lavender).
I invite you to search your notebooks and drives for the prompt word and see what drafts you have that you can resurrect and revise.
What will you write today?
A list of ways to use corn
What is a metaphor you can create with corn as a component?
A memory of a time you ate corn or decorated with corn
One sentence containing the word corn
Maybe you start a conversation with a stranger about the word and that is the story you write. Whatever you choose - have fun!
Happy writing!
I invite you to leave a comment even if you are just reading and not doing a project! Just say hello so I know you are out there! You belong simply because you are here.
I would love to hear about your progress on your projects too!!

**NOTE**
I do not share drafts of work online because most publications considered this published. You are more than welcome to share your piece in the comments, an excerpt, a link to your blog/Substack, or an update.
I hope for the comments to be a community for us to share these wins.
A little more about me: Tammy L. Evans is a writer, teacher, and coach living in a tiny house on a peninsula with her husband and adventure cat. Her location device is her loud laugh. She is working on a non-fiction book about how to submit and publish your first pieces. She is the creator and host of THE BRADBURY TRIO COURSE. Her poetry has been published in The Storyteller, FoxGlove Journal, Story Hall, Blue Insights, The Partnered Pen, and others. Her fiction has been published in Gone Lawn, Cabinets of Heed, Spelk, Five on the Fifth, Clover and White, Fiction Berlin Kitchen, and others.
Thank you for your emails, Tammy. A week ago I came up with the idea of a Creativity Hour for my husband and myself. We are both confined to the house and recovering from broken hips. He's a talented artist who needed motivation. I am a writer who needs motivation every day. Our Creativity Hour is working. Today I completed a story I had begun months ago. As for corn, in 2008 we were in Greece. One night we attended a dinner featuring food that the Greeks would have eaten 2500 years ago. Corn was on the menu. Aristotle would have been surprised. Not sure if there's a story in that story.
Love this prompt. Keep him. 😃
