Today’s Beautiful sentence:
The Cost of Living by Deborah Levy
‘As you’ve asked, I spent today engaged with the difficulties of writing in the immediate present tense. It’s hard to remain interested in one person’s subjectivity. There are tricks to insert other subjectivities into this tense, but it’s a challenge.’
I adore Levy’s work. She was recommended to me by my friend Joy. Levy’s writing always inspires me to write something in response. I have underlined and saved so many quotes, but it is mostly a feeling I have when I read her - like I am transported inside a snow globe of her world. Everything else is quiet, except for what is happening on the page. It is a beautiful experience.
I invite you to capture a beautiful sentence of your own. Choose a random book, or one from beside you. Maybe share it with someone. Share it with me.
This is fun, so I am leaving it here.
I am looking for aligned people for my new project. Is that you? Send me a message and let’s connect through writing, reading, or the love of museums. Or spoons - definitely spoons!
