Iceland - I miss this coffee so much.
Thank you for joining me for a coffee and a chat today.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…BREAKFAST! Today’s experience was less than ideal but the restaurant was busy. We didn’t get our regular table or waitress. It was still great, just different. The company of course was perfect! Chris and I shared our omelet, as usual. I wanted more coffee and couldn’t seem to flag anyone down so that was disappointing.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I have felt under the weather this past week. Stuffy nose and head pressure. I suspect allergies. The real problem was that I was so tired. Like, I am on the couch and cannot move tired. Tuesday, I was in my Book Nest and read, wrote and submitted. It was a great work day. Chris took great care of me too and made me breakfast and refilled my coffee! The cat held me down to help me work too! LOL
This week I submitted a large residency application. Large, because of the caliber of the residency and also for the amount of short answer questions in addition to the 10 pages of writing. We will see what happens.
Writing Prompt: A BIG goal
If we were having coffee I would tell you… this past week I was able to get my haircut. I used to go to a fancy place and now I have no desire to put in the time or the money for that experience. There is a chain salon close to my house where I had success but I don’t like the way one stylist cuts my hair. (I have had some terrible haircut experiences - story for another day. Why are there so many stories around hair BTW???
So I checked in, saw that guy was the only one in the shop. I said NOPE! Went back to the car and canceled the check in and then went across town to the other shop. Thank goodness I did! I found a new stylist who I adored. She did a great job on my hair. You know when you are in the chair and you know that the person is cutting it correctly? That was the feeling.
I also asked about the protocols for requesting her because it is a walk in place mostly. I get anxious sometimes when I don’t know the protocols.
Writing Prompt: Hair. (I highly recommend the story from Sandra Cisneros's House of Mango Street as a STUDY STORY. I picked up this term this week and like it better than Mentor Text. At least for now….)
If we were having coffee I would tell you… despite the tiredness and sickness this week I was able to walk significant miles this week. This week was a better week all around for many aspects: I read more, ate at home, my new supplements are helping me feel good and Chris was able to work outside on his projects. The spring weather is still wonky but it seems to be settling to a degree.
Writing Prompt: How was this week better than last?
If we were having coffee I would tell you…May begins on Wednesday! I will write 31 stories in 31 days! I am also starting a writing circle with a group next Sunday. I have been looking forward to it for a while now. I am ready to dig back into this material.
If we were having coffee I would tell you … I am planning a free 10-minute creativity challenge for June to celebrate my birthday month! More details are coming soon!
Thank you for joining me for coffee today. I hope you are well and that wishes came true for you this week!
I would love to hear something you did this past week that was fueling to you!

I love that your kitty kept you focused on your writing. Sorry to hear you've been under the weather, though glad you found a new hairstylist you can trust.
This past week I treated myself to a chai latte at my favorite cafe and it was wonderful.
