If we were having coffee I would tell you…today after breakfast Chris and I are going camping in an Indiana State Park! It’s his birthday trip and we have been looking forward to it for a while. We will tent camp, canoe, and fish for the week!
The park has history for me. I ran winter team races there several years in a row. What I remember is the lore of a woman runner who got plowed into by a deer in the middle of the race one year which cracked her ribs and stopped her from running for a while. Personally, I remember running through a creek (there was no way around it) and feeling the ice rattle in my shoe around my Smart Wool socks as I ran down the trail. I remember my friend Melissa passing off to my 10 mile loop saying, “It’s awful.”
I am looking forward to going back and making new memories.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I finished Bibliophobia and Permission this past week and enjoyed them both.
Biblipophobia is an interesting reflection on reading and how it wasn’t always positive for this author. It is a striking off-center viewpoint that I couldn’t stop reading. She reflects on specific texts that had an impact, most of which I had read. (And then I put holds on them or downloaded the ones I hadn’t read yet.) For anyone who loves reading, I think it is a conversation piece of a book.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… this week, I went to the dentist. The office we go to is an 1.5 hr drive with a time change. We like the dentists and the hygienists there, so we make a day out of it. The appointments were early so we had to get up and moving at a distinctly different time from the regular pattern. i.e. we were very tired.
On Wednesday I took a class centered around Frida Kahlo’s work. It ended up being a bit different than I expected but still inspirational. There was a lot of information and a lot of visuals. I expected there to be more writing.
Thursday I attended an event hosted by The Narrative Method (TNM). The writing hour sticks to a strict protocol which I initially poo-pooed but got on board with as the hour progressed. They require cameras to be on or they will remove you from the Zoom. There are two prompts given 7 minutes apart and then small group sharing. I will attend again.
If we were having coffee I would tell you….a new 4-week session of the Trio begins May 25th! You can find the info here. There are only a few spots left!
Here are some photos from this week:
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I attended the Shut Up and Write group yesterday.
Here was my delicious breakfast:
So….I overheard the chef talking about a breakfast burrito which may be my order next Saturday!
I thought I had a SmokeLong workshop session, but it had been rescheduled to next Saturday! Writing was able to be accomplished so that is a good thing.
I had to get my fishing license after the meeting. It expired at the end of March!
It is the Pink Full Moon. Here is the link to the artist that shares a full moon tarot spread every month that I consistently use: Modern Gypsy. Due to scheduling, there will be no Full Moon Writing this month. Stay tuned for details for next month’s offering.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…the tiny writing experiments continue! They are a celebration of National Poetry Month, but they may or may not lead to a poem. My hope is they are fun for you.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I am teaching my Unpublished to Published course starting on April 20th and you are invited! You can find the information here. There are some spots left.
I would love to hear from you in the comments even if it is just to say HI or to ask a question!

Public Service Announcement: That breakfast burrito has french fries stuffed in the center of it like giant hydrangeas in a floral spray, lol! But you might be into that. :)
I just have to smile at you outdoorsy types, bless you all. I'm so indoorsy : )
/ that ice belongs in a cocktail, not your sock!!!
