Day 1 Ten Minute Challenge "One Man's Trash"
Welcome to the Month Long Birthday Celebration!
Day 1
Welcome to the 10 Minute Creativity Challenge! I invite you to commit for 10 minutes to inspire your creative life for the month of June!
Congratulations!
Let’s get started: Day 1 is called “One Man’s Trash”
Today’s inspiration came from Austin Kleon. If you are not subscribed to his newsletter, I highly recommend it.
What is something you would normally throw away that inspires a new creation?
What trash calls you to write a flash story (1000 words or less) ?
Is there junk mail laying on your counter that you can scan and pull a phrase (or several phrases) that inspires you to freewrite?
Are the graphics calling you to make a collage? Maybe you want to make a poster sized collage or one on an index card. You get to choose.
Does a memory of something you threw away and regretted come to mind?
If someone else found that “trash” what would happen?
Can you make something out of a found object? I have a brie container that is begging to become a magical collaged portal on my desk.
Does a piece of trash tickle you to create a poem, a doodle, or a song?
Set your timer for 10 minutes….and GO! [Click here for a 10 minute sand timer]
Which Accountability Level Will You Choose?
[You can choose differently each day!]
Just create and keep it for yourself!
Hit reply and send your piece or a picture to me! I will read/look at it and send you good vibes and a thank you.
Find a buddy. Send the email to a friend and send each other your creations.
Post in the comments.
Happy Creating!
Tammy
I'm doing this challenge in July. Today I wrote a flash fiction piece ("wreck-tie-fiction") based on a junk mail flyer handed to me at the train station one rainy evening.
Good Morning, Tammy. Happy Birthday Month! I just finished my 10+minutes of writing about throwing away a piece of trash. Your invitation made that an act of creation. Thanks. (And I'm already reading Austin Kleon because of you.)
