Day 11: What Do You See?
21 Days of Prompts Experience
Welcome to Inspiration and Magic, a newsletter masquerading as a dinner party that is an Invitation to Curiosity. This newsletter is for you if you want to create life-giving writing, art, and conversation.
Subscribe for free and catch a glimpse of what I am excited about and sharing. Upgrade to go deeper and practice these ideas.
Write a word, a sentence, or a story. It’s up to you.
Since this is for paid subscribers, I encourage you to share in the comments.
Before we get to the prompt, here’s some practical guidance:
Put your phone somewhere out of reach. It can wait. If you’re using the timer on your phone, turn on Do Not Disturb.
The 10-minute timer is important, and will keep you focused.
Go for 150 to around 600 words but don’t let this take too much space in your thoughts
Just begin with whatever comes to mind, even if it doesn’t seem directly related to the prompt. That is ok. Let the writing guide you, like your pen is part Ouiji board.
Keep your hand moving (In Natalie Goldberg style) but do not race. Take your time and form your letters if that feels good to you. You are not trying to see how many words you can get on the page as fast as you can.
If you feel a lull, take a breath. A good phrase to use here is “And what else?”
If you are feeling you want to go a bit deeper, set the timer for 3 more minutes and see what happens.
If you want to keep writing, keep writing!
