Welcome to Day 20
Happy Summer Solstice!
It is the longest day of the year.
I share a poem with you to inspire your 10 minutes today.
Summer Stars by Carl Sandburg
Bend low again, night of summer stars.
So near you are, sky of summer stars,
So near, a long-arm man can pick off stars,
Pick off what he wants in the sky bowl,
So near you are, summer stars,
So near, strumming, strumming,
So lazy and hum-strumming.
From Smoke and Steel (Harcourt, Brace and Howe, 1920). This poem is in the public domain.

Today's writing was a poem titled "Hum Strum."
I'll share the last 3 lines of my poem here:
I strum the lines between the stars
And sing the constellations until my voice
Is a whisper among the other summer whispers.
simple elegance. 1890 - 1920 blessed us with some peak poetry, just yummy stuff. For me, the words "this poem is in the public domain" are like a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval
