Day 24 #10minchallenge - Child like Crafts
A Month Long Birthday Celebration
Welcome to Day 24
When I was little I made latch hook rugs as a craft on the nights my dad worked 3-11’s at the mill. Sometimes we did paint-by-numbers crafts too.
My favorite was Shrinky Dinks. If you don’t know what this is, you colored thin pieces of plastic and cut them out. You baked them in a low temp oven where they would shrink and become a hard plastic piece. I thought this was the best! The smell of melting plastic was distinct and I loved it too.
Now my craft of choice is watercolors. My brother in law even bought me a watercolor set for my birthday! I am not any good but it is fun. I have been painting on notecards. Amy T Won’s cards are an inspiration for me.
I used to rubber stamp and paper piece to make cards.
What craft would you like to revisit or try if you were never able to? If it is within your means, take a trip to the dollar store and pick up some supplies to play with! (Cheap means low stakes.) Your inner child will thank you. If you have children who have craft supplies you could borrow from them!
We need to remember to play more. It doesn’t need to be art, it just needs to be fun.
If you have questions, comments or want to share, just hit reply or comment!!!!
Set your timer for 10 minutes….and GO!
Happy creating!
My mom was really into Hobbytex fabric painting - a 1970s ballpoint fabric paint fad that is still in business today. She let me do 2 or 3 small pieces when I was in elementary school.
One of my first pen ink doodles that I thought was really cool used only 3 colors - red, black, and blue. Today I did an upgraded version of that doodle. I bought some watercolor paints and painted 3 large circles before using black, red, and blue pens to draw lightning and circles.
