Day 29 #10minchallenge - Daily Nourishment
A Month Long Birthday Celebration
Welcome to Day 29
Today, I share a daily bit of nourishment from Spiritual Direction for Writers
I love this work and always find it inspiring.
The format is:
PAUSE
PROMPT
PRACTICE
I encourage you to take your 10 minutes today and do the exercise from the linked prompt above from June 25th. Exploring the site might do you good too - but likely to take more than 10 minutes. Fair warning!
If you are feeling froggy you can write your own PAUSE, PROMPT, and PRACTICE!
If you have questions, comments or want to
share, just hit reply or comment!!!!
Set your timer for 10 minutes….and GO!
Happy creating!
Pause - I was thinking of how the recent strong typhoon winds knocked down the trees. These trees were proud of their plentiful branches and leaves. The very things that make a tree beautiful and musical and a great home for birds are also the things that the wind used to grab the tree and pull and push it to the ground. I was thinking about how my own strengths might end up being my weakness in the face of an unknown wind turning my world upside down.
Prompt - Bright blue skies and hot days punctuated by puffy clouds passing by. The floor fan is gently caressing us as we sleep through the slightly cooler evenings in shorts and a t-shirt. The buzz of the cicadas telling each other attractive stories. The green bean slushies we share between the four of us—mine in a small bowl topped with sugar free greek yogurt, my wife and kids adding milk to turn their slushies into icy drinks. I change my shirt at lunchtime and have at least two cold showers every day: one shower is to wash my hair and clean behind my ears; the other shower/s is/are to rinse the sweat from me and to cool down. The swimming pool beckons to me in my dreams, and I make sure I take sunscreen with me.
Practice - Swimming brings me so much joy because I get to exercise, keep in shape, and stay cool all at the same time. I want to swim more this summer. I’ve missed going to the pool since 2020’s Covid-19 gave us all such a big scare.
