Welcome to my dinner party!
Since we cannot gather for a real-life dinner party, I invite you to a virtual meal today!
If there is a dish you would like to bring, please add it to the comments (recipes are welcome as well as just the name of the dish!)
If you want to start a topic of conversation - add that in the comments as well.
Let me get you a drink! I have sparkling water and sodas.

As we wait for everyone to arrive I would tell you I am still missing Iceland. It is hard to explain why exactly. To hear it out loud almost makes it sound dull but I am excited to go back as soon as we can. Iceland comes up in my writing whether I begin there or not! I have lots to reflect on.
Now that everyone has arrived let’s start the meal with our appetizer of bacon wrapped steak bites. Try the mustard dipping sauce! It is delicious!
During the appetizer, I would tell you I am already planning my word of the year for 2024. One of the actions I say I will take is to revisit the writing classes I have taken. I am taking steps to make this workable. The first thing is to make a spreadsheet of the classes I have saved in my Google Drive! Then I will schedule them throughout the year.
The other plan is to submit a piece from the week: a revision from the class material when I took it the first time, or a completely new piece influenced by the course.

Our main course tonight is Smothered Chicken with garlic roasted potatoes. The gravy is simple with stock and spices and a little bit of heavy cream. The potatoes were harvested out of our garden. Chris did a potato growing experiment in cardboard boxes which worked beautifully. We will do it that way again next year.
During dinner, I would tell you how breakfast ritual continues! This morning we went to the regular place and there was hardly anyone in there. Right before we got there the parking lot was full of police cars. The waitress thought maybe that was why people didn’t come in!
Chris and I saw two people that we used to work with today. We said hello and exchanged pleasantries. The omelet was yummy and so was the toast. I had more cups of coffee than I could count. It is always a great way to start the week with my husband.

For dessert, we are having Apple Crisp. This is a recipe from Pampered Chef that always works. It is cinnamon, apples, sugar, yellow cake mix and butter! I have some vanilla bean ice cream if you would like it ala mode.
During dessert, I would tell you this past week was extremely busy. I was able to attend a class taught by Francesca Lia Block about her 12 Questions for Writing. I spent the middle of the week working at Starbucks. Friday was full of writing and errands.
My Writing in the Dark class meets live on Thursday evenings but I have been contemplating the assignment more than I would in other classes. This feeling is similar to the one I had with Sabrina Orah Mark’s class.
The full blown darkness by 5pm is making me tired. I have put into place reading goals after dinner in order to not fall asleep. Chris and I have also been watching some movies which is fun.
I am also tweaking my Tarot for Writing class that will begin on the 26th of this month! I am excited to get this round started.
Thank you for coming today! I would love to have you attend next time as well!

As always, thank you for reading!
This was so fun to read!
If I were coming to dinner, I would offer to bring my fall salad, which has crispy green lettuce, Persian cucumbers, grated carrots, celery slices , topped with hearts of palms rounds. I would leave my home-made dressing of oil and vinegar on the side. No tomatoes in this salad, because you have the most scrumptious homegrown ones - so maybe I would ask if we could cut one of your tomatoes up for the salad so it would taste better !
