Normally, my Sunday post is a coffee share where you and I have a conversation over a cup of coffee. I have been doing that format for several years now and I wanted to try something different. Since we cannot gather for a real life dinner party I invite you to a virtual meal.
If there is a dish you would like to bring, please add it to the comments (recipes are welcome as well as the name of the dish!) Every week there will be a new surprise.
Find your place card at the table and pour a drink! There are several wines and sparkling waters for you to choose from at the bar cart.
Now that everyone has arrived let’s start the meal with our appetizer of stuffed mushrooms. A reading specialist friend of mine brought them to a holiday gathering I was hosting and I have been in love with them ever since. They are morsels that you pop in your mouth and are satisfying!
During the appetizer, I would tell you this past week was busy! My brother in law was here from Florida to help with the moving truck. I was glad my husband and his brother were able to go fishing and spend some time together. We will stay with him a few days when we return to Florida in July. Every time I am there I question why people would live in such a hot humid place.
What setting do you prefer to live in: mountains, water, flat, tropical?
For our salad course, we are having Everything salad. This salad has everything that you think goes into it from the fridge and pantry. Today there are nuts, cheese, shredded carrot, cucumbers, cranberries, and a bit of parmesan. I have a lemon vinaigrette today!
During the salad course, I would tell you I spent a wonderful afternoon with my son on Wednesday. We were able to have a nice lunch and some time catching up. I also went to the library to pick up my hold of Des Linden’s memoir and I finished it in less than 24 hours. I found it incredibly inspiring. I always watch the Boston Marathon with interest and will be glued to the news updates tomorrow! I hope the weather is good for the race. When I ran it the start was 85 degrees and it was no near that hot when I left Indiana. The day before the marathon I spent the day walking around Salem and loved every minute of it. I cannot say the same for the marathon but I am glad it is on my running resume.
Our main course tonight is Smothered Chicken with potatoes. I would tell you Saturday was a busy day! I started the day with movement and then I went down to the lake with my husband and he cast a few. The fishes were nibbling but reluctant. Then we went to do some errands and had an amazing lunch at a local brewery. I picked up more books at the library and am now reading Maggie Smith’s memoir. I am also reading Cinelle Barnes’ memoir. I had a workshop with Cinelle on Wednesday about structure which was amazing through Centered, the writing community I am the coordinator for.
For dessert, we are having ice cream! Simple, but yummy! I have several flavors for you. I would tell you it is rainy today so I am resting my legs. I also have to catch up on some writing. I did some revisions yesterday on a flash piece I am getting ready to send out. I am also in Sarah Freligh’s poetry BootCamp and wrote 3 poems this week!
Thank you for coming to dinner ! I would love to have you attend next time as well!
