Iceland - I miss this coffee so much.
Thank you for joining me for a coffee and a chat today.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…breakfast day! Usually on Sundays, I wake up hungry anticipating the delicious breakfast that awaits me. Today was not that day. We went early to beat the rush and it was a perfect way to start the morning as always.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…today is Mother’s Day which is complicated for me on many levels. Today, I am spending the afternoon with my son, as it should be. Chris was the first to tell me “Happy Mother’s Day” which was lovely.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I have writing friends all over the world. I had the opportunity to chat with a friend in India this week! It is so fascinating to me that no matter where writers live we have the same desires for community.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I am doing a lot of writing in my notebooks in response to the multitude of prompts I have access to this month but do not feel like I am finishing stories. I am determining whether this is fueling or not. Would I benefit from finishing them? Probably. Will I? We’ll see. I did yesterday so that was a win.
I had a 30 minute check in call with one of my mentors and was relieved to hear I am on track with my writing life. I came to understand I need to change a few things in my revision process. I talked myself into it though a few days before the call. I was given validation from my mentor. One thing I notice as a coach is sometimes the crux of this role is to provide the space for the client to talk themselves into a solution. I have many friends who tell me that the answers are already inside you.
I did get a few suggestions about how to direct my unconscious mind a new direction which is helpful and feels fun. She also mentioned the word fun and the phrase “not thinking too much” Writing is fun for me, but also work. Not in the “oh my goodness I have to go to work” but more in the vein of “I GET to work”.
If we were having coffee I would tell you… I finished THE PARIS NOVEL by Ruth Reichel and adored it. It was such a fun read.
If we were having coffee I would tell you… I did a 44-hour fast this week.
If we were having coffee I would ask you…How walkable is it where you live? I had the thought during one of my walks this past week how much I miss sidewalks. This thought is one I never thought I would have. It is a case of not knowing you miss it till you do not have it. I attempted a new route on one of my walks this week which was a disaster. There were no shoulders and too much traffic.
If we were having coffee I would tell you … I love my library. It has saved me so many dollars. I am grateful to have such a wonderful library system. Now, in Indiana I have the run of the whole state’s system. It takes longer for holds to come in, but it is worth it. Hoopla is the digital platform in addition to Libby. Do you use these services where you live?
If we were having coffee I would tell you… I am planning a free 10-minute creativity challenge for June to celebrate my birthday month! More details are coming soon!
Thank you for joining me for coffee today. I hope you are well and that wishes came true for you this week!
I would love to hear something you did this past week that was fueling to you!
A little more about me: Tammy L. Evans is a writer, teacher, runner, and coach living in a tiny house on a peninsula with her husband and adventure cat. Her location device is her loud laugh. She is a reader for Reckon Review. She is the creator and host of the THE BRADBURY TRIO COURSE. Her poetry has been published in The Storyteller, FoxGlove Journal, Story Hall, Blue Insights, The Partnered Pen, and others. Her fiction has been published in Gone Lawn, South Florida Poetry Journal, Cabinets of Heed, Spelk, Five on the Fifth, Clover and White, Fiction Berlin Kitchen, and others.
Happy Mother's Day Tammy. I also live in a tiny house in an RV Park in Florida. I love the sociability of the environment, so different from a condo or housing development. Not that I'm all that social--it's just nice to have folks around just in case I want to socialize. Of course what I like best is nesting and writing. Great to get to know you.
