My pattern of reading continues!
Good Words In = Good Words Out

The Bradbury Trio [reading a poem, an essay, and a story every day] fuels my writing.
This is what I read this week that resonated:
Essay: Amy Hempel Is the Master of the Minimalist Short Story - The Atlantic
I am part of SmokeLong Summer which is a community/critique group/workshop series. On Sunday, we had a workshop and I had a conversation with a fellow writer about Amy Hempel because she was mentioned by the presenter.
Essay: Why The Turn of the Screw Haunts Us 125 Years Later - Lit Hub
Story: High Desert by Ramona Ausubel
I met Ramona at a writing conference in Boulder in March and her writing has stuck with me. I am reading her new novel and her collection of short stories.
Poem: Historiae 2 Antonella Anedda The Paris Review
One of the things I want to do is dig out some of my education writing books. Lester Laminack, Kelly Gallagher, Penny Kittle, Ralph Fletcher.
Many of the techniques I read about in “adult” writing craft books are the same concepts I have taught to my students for over 25 years.
I am working on a Bradbury Trio course that will begin in the fall so this reading and connection to writing is exciting!
I am also doing a Bradbury Trio challenge. I started back in August of 2022. While I have not done it everyday since then, I’ve been fairly consistent. I see a difference in the depth of my writing. I enjoy reading your posts and getting ideas to read for the day. Thanks for sharing your process.
