Some Sentences I Love From My Recent Reading
A Collection of Sentences I Wish I Had Written + A Structure to Try in Your Notebook
I have saved quotes all my life. They used to be taped to my closet doors when I grew up on my dead-end street in Indiana. (I was not allowed to tape anything to the walls.) When I had a Franklin Planner I had a whole section in the back that had quotes from people and books I loved.
With the help of an app called ReadWise, my highlighted quotes from my Kindle are sent to me in an email.
Below are some quotes I highlighted in my reading over the last few weeks.
I sometimes use these quotes as springboards for my writing in my notebook. I have taken a sentence I like the rhythm of and tried to mimic it with my own words.
There are lots of ways to play with delicious sentences.

Charlotte uses this format: One Quote + One Note + One Question +

Her question from yesterday was:
One Question
When do you catch yourself wondering if something you love to do is a huge waste of time and how do you respond?
I invite you to try Charoltte’s format with a quote of your own or one from my list below!
How to Do Nothing by Jenny Odell
Sometimes it’s good to be stuck in the in-between, even if it’s uncomfortable.
2.The Pivot Year by Brianna Wiest
Becoming yourself is soulwork.
The Sentence by Louise Erdrich
I considered making My Favorite Beds the next topic of conversation, but didn’t for obvious reasons.
How to Do Nothing by Jenny Odell
You can see this effect at work in the circular labyrinths that are designed for nothing other than contemplative walking. Labyrinths function similarly to how they appear, enabling a sort of dense infolding of attention; through two-dimensional design alone, they make it possible not to walk straight through a space, nor to stand still, but something very well in between.
