SPACE
A Structure to Use in Your Notebook
Structures for my notebooks have been on my mind these past few months.
Today, I wish to share:
SPACE : Schedule, Plan, Absorb, Create, Engage.
S IS FOR SCHEDULE
I schedule in my Google calendar and my paper planner. I do quarter planning and that has been a life changer for my content. I am going to schedule some revision time and because from now until the end of 2026 I have something major happening every 2 weeks.
P IS FOR PLAN
I am planning some intentional social media content and also planning the series of emails that will be part of the Zero to Submitted course that has the museum gallery structure overlay. (SOOOO excited about teaching this class again with the revision and submission components!)
A IS FOR ABSORB
This is the place for reading and learning. I am reading Hotel Magnifique right now. I am dipping into a lot of books.
Bradbury’s 1000 Day MFA program is to read a poem, essay, and short story every day. Not only does it bring great words into my brain, but they often influence my writing for the day. I am always saving these three genres in my Keep app. I also have been adding art pieces to the Trio so have been making notes in relation to that too.
C IS FOR CREATE
Creating pieces is a daily affair. I already composed a piece in a write-in this morning with Kathy Fish. I did rearrange my normal routine to get a run in before some calls I have this afternoon.
E IS FOR ENGAGE
This is the connection piece. Since there is still backlash from the storm here, I am reaching out to friends, but it is mostly, “Do you have power yet?”
*****
I have been playing with structures in my writing for the last few months. Do you have a favorite one you use? (PLEASE SHARE!) ha!
How does this structure land for you? I would love to hear!
