Iceland
Thank you for joining me for a coffee and a chat today.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…this week we had family in from Florida so my daily schedule was a lot different. The amount of food that was prepared and consumed this week was massive and fun! The amount of work done by these 5 men was also incredible!
My regular creative and movement routine was on hold for the time everyone was here but was not unwelcome. Back and forth to the airport allowed me some creative time on the road!
The week ahead is full of tasks we have been putting off so we will see what shakes out at the end!
Writing Prompt: Write about schedule changes (that are your fault)
If we were having coffee I would tell you… today we had breakfast at our regular place but had extra people with us! We were able to sit at the big round table. Chris and I shared our regular breakfast. Everyone seemed to enjoy the time together. My nephew put syrup on his eggs which I had never seen before. When I asked him about it he said that the syrup accidentally got on his eggs and he liked it so he keeps eating them that way.
Writing Prompt: Write about an unusual food combination and what happens when you eat it.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…we had beautiful weather yesterday for Chris’ birthday and the last day of work with everyone here. It was a perfect day. Today, it is storming…again.
Writing Prompt: Write about rain that won’t stop.
If we were having coffee I would tell you …I have been doing some research about Paris. And I have been thinking about Iceland…and Germany.
I have also been thinking about what an ideal writing retreat would look like. The concept of a casual group of writers who get together in one place, eat together, have time to write, and each present a workshop is the direction I am heading. The conversations outside the formal workshop pieces of a retreat are just as valuable to me.
If we were having coffee I would tell you … I was able to get my walk in today before this wave of rain hit, so for that, I am thankful.
Yesterday, I walked a labyrinth that is on my regular route of the library and food shops. It was hiding behind a row of arborvitae. I must have found it just when I needed it.
Thank you for joining me for coffee today. I hope this week unfolds in surprising fun ways for you! If you write to any of the prompts I would love to hear about it.
A little more about me: Tammy L. Evans is a writer, teacher, runner, and coach living in a tiny house on a peninsula with her husband and adventure cat. Her location device is her loud laugh. She is a reader for Reckon Review. She is the creator and host of the THE BRADBURY TRIO COURSE. Her poetry has been published in The Storyteller, FoxGlove Journal, Story Hall, Blue Insights, The Partnered Pen, and others. Her fiction has been published in Gone Lawn, South Florida Poetry Journal, Cabinets of Heed, Spelk, Five on the Fifth, Clover and White, Fiction Berlin Kitchen, and others.
Cool idea about a writing retreat with that format! And agreed that the conversations outside of the seminars are just as valuable.
