Thank you for joining me for a coffee and a chat today. Let’s pour ourselves a cup and begin our conversation!
If we were having coffee I would tell you… breakfast this morning continues! Regular table and regular waitress. It is a great ceremony to begin the week. Today, just for fun, we took a big sheet of paper and crayons and drew while we waited for our food to come to the table. Big smiles all around.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I went on a writing crawl yesterday. I will post a separate essay about that experience. Part of that day was lunch with my son which is always a ray of sunshine. He started a new job this week and I am so proud of him!
Each errand stop I wrote one page in my notebook and took a picture. This practice is inspired by Sherrie Flick’s work.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…we spent the week a couple of hours from where we live. I was able to get a lot of writing done in the hotel. It was a treat to have new restaurant dinners in a place we spend time in. We found a used bookstore that also sold chocolates. We went to the Italian restaurant we love. I got seriously carded there which was funny. We had dinner at a brewery and then went to a whiskey bar afterwards. We went to the Boathouse restaurant right on Lake Wiona. The week was full of new adventures.
It was great to not have to drive back and forth each day, but Chris and I were both ready to come home to our house (and our bed) by the end of the week.
I am grateful every day for the life I get to have now. Chris is the main reason for that happiness and gratitude.
If we were having coffee I would tell you… I read a lot of poetry this week as part of the Seally Challenge. I read poetry every day anyway but this has been a nice change in the pattern. I am reading multiple poems by the same author which is a different experience.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I hosted Katy Bowman as the guest mentor in Centered. She is a movement specialist and everything she said made sense. We did some practical exercise during the session as well.
If we were having coffee I would tell you...inspired from my community Voxer challenge hosted by Joy, I have lots of opportunities and plans swirling around in my head. I was able to meet many creative people and the conversations went in unexpected directions. More soon!
If we were having coffee I would tell you… week 2 of the Bradbury Challenge started today. I reread all the selections with my students and found it influencing my writing this week. The discussion has been vibrant and fun in Slack.
Thank you for joining me for coffee today! I would love to hear something you would tell me about if were having coffee.
