Welcome to the conversation! The above photo is from the brunch chain First Watch in Florida.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…Today is BREAKFAST DAY! It was a regular sort of Sunday. Because my brother-in-law was visiting and wouldn’t be here on Sunday we took him to the same restaurant for breakfast on Friday. Being there on a different day threw the staff off! They kept coming up to us saying some version of , “But it’s not Sunday!”
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… Chris and I went to the Christmas tree farm yesterday. We walked around with our hot chocolate and had a lovely time. We have established this as our annual tradition and we both love it. The smell of pine and fire was thick, which always adds to the experience. I love walking in the rows of trees. We buy a potted live tree rather than a cut one so we can plant it later.
Our Christmas tree we will plant in the Spring!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… Soup Sunday today is White Chicken Chili partly because I have all the ingredients and I do not have to leave the house. (My life goal) This week I did a little more cooking with family visiting. I love cooking and taking care of people in this way so this is not a complaint but I have no desire to go to the grocery store right now.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I have been doing a lot of reflection and planning for 2025 this week. I have lists upon lists of questions and brainstorms of what the new year might look like. They are loose plans. I am open to the opportunities that come to me. I am deciding the writing projects I want to write and finish. It is a process! I am also looking at the commitments I have made and analyzing how I feel about them and if changes need to occur.
If we were having beverages together I would tell you…..my asynchronous courses and e-books are available. Find the link here. You can also support my work through this Substack again. I will be adding paid subscriber content as we move forward. I will continue free challenges, because I love them, but the archives will only be available for paid subscribers. I also plan to publish courses once a quarter. More details are coming soon. Please reach out if there is something specific you would like to see from me.
If we were having coffee I would tell you…I received Chasing Fog by Laura Pasby in the mail yesterday and am excited to read this beautiful book. Another book of short stories arrived which Chris and I had to pick up from the post office. Lots of reading for me this week! I also have some class recordings I have to catch up on. With family visiting, I missed a couple of events. I am trying to refocus this week.
If we were having coffee, I would ask you…how do you decide which classes you want to take? I have so many saved from the past that I could revisit that material and be set for years. The craft and exercise books I have also fit this description! I would love to hear your rationale or methods!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…Friday was St Nicholas Day which brought a lot of memories of my Oma to mind. It was a big deal at her house and her decorations for Christmas were up by then. Sometimes she decorated the tree for a week and we were not allowed to touch it! I had many smiles remembering my childhood at her house Friday. I had originally planned to attend a writing event at the Art Institue but I changed my plans to attend the one on the 20th instead.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I am happy you are here. Thank you for reading my words. You are important to me.
