Sunday Coffee Share
Come join me for a coffee and a conversation on January 25th
Is it snowing where you are? It has been wicked cold here for many many days. Luckily, someone who loves me very much put a fireplace in our house!
Today, the house is also warmed by a crockpot meal of Mongolian Beef which I am looking forward to eating!
If we were having coffee, [or hot chocolate, or hot water with lemon] I would tell you…it’s BREAKFAST DAY ! Due to the snow, the three of us drove together to the restaurant this frigid morning. Just the regulars were there in this weather.
As I write this, I am on the couch with my blanket and a fire. There is one cat with me and the other is meowing out the front window. There is snow falling outside, and it is slowly accumulating. I am looking forward to my meeting with my Trio course people this afternoon!

📚If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I finished The Correspondent, Out of Silence, Sound. Out of Nothing, Something ,and the Ted Kooser book (Winter Morning Walks). This winter has allowed lots of time for reading, which is always good for my mental health and my writing.
I started A Year of Nothing by Emma Gannon, which came out Tuesday. I have 2 more chapters that I will finish today. I also started Adventures in the Louvre.
The library is my friend!

This week is a reading week for the Trio course, so I will re-read the assignments I have given to my students! Remember, if the Trio course is not something that fits into your schedule right now, paid subscribers to my Substack receive a Trio every Tuesday. If you are curious how this would work for you, try for a month! If you have questions, you can always reach out in a direct message.
The next live 4-week Trio course will begin mid-March. Info will come out on the first of February.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you….I attended my book club on Wednesday evening. It was magical! We Zoomed with one of the authors of the book the group read and had a lovely meal. It was an evening of warmth and friends centered around art and books!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I have been rucking on the days I could weather-wise. My walking treadmill came on Saturday, thankfully. I started on it right after we returned from the re-opened Chinese buffet! I am so happy with this weather to have this as an option. I have some clear goals before I leave for Disney with my son at the end of February!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you… it is Sunday, and I invite you to write a letter. I am participating in the Sunday Letter Project in 2026. You could write a letter to yourself, someone in your house, or someone where you have to put a stamp and send it away! I have made it a part of my French Sunday routine. There are many Substacks starting Pen Pal clubs too! (With Ease for one!)
I have sent many letters this week and started receiving some back!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…the cold caused our washer to malfucntion due to a frozen pipe. Luckily, Chris was working in the basement and caught it right away. We have been trying to get it thawed. I took a trip to the laundromat, which is always a great solution. The manager and I always have a nice chat while I am there.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I participated in SmokeLong’s workshop yesterday morning. Erin Vachon teaches a wicked good workshop every time and this was no exception. Their prompts are exceptional and always get me out of my own way to write something truthful and weird. A perfect combo in my mind.
I am taking a slower approach to my writing lately. I am not worried about generating a new story every day, but instead choosing a few pieces to work with for the month. I changed some things with the Margot Project structurally, so I am digging into that idea. Luckily, I have cultivated some strong revision groups that I trust which also helps.
If we were having coffee, I would recommend…

If we were having coffee, I would tell you….I met with one group of my Trio course last night and we have a lovely conversation. My friend Leslie recommended a book about art museums I had never heard of - Mona’s Eyes. It is on the TBR list now! Have you heard of this book?
French Sundays continue! It feels good to have an intentionally slower day.
Have an amazing Sunday and the rest of the week! Thank you for joining me for coffee!
