My Darkest Side of the Moon coffee on the Art Institute Member Terrace!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…it has been a crazy day and a half! I am in Ontario and the Substack didn’t get scheduled! So, happy Monday reading!
This past week has been one of pivots and this road trip capped off the week!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…it’s early BREAKFAST DAY! Chris and I are headed to Canada today so breakfast is at 5am! Then we are heading to Canada after we are done eating. The truck was packed yesterday so it was easy to get out of the house this morning.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…it’s summer and its hot. It has been hotter than it normally is at this time in Indiana and it has been taking its toll on me.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I attended my Saturday IRL writing group yesterday. I was happy to order my regular breakfast. The main goals were to finish this Substack and to send pieces to friends I am meeting with next week.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…Friday I was supposed to do a train reading retreat with friends from my Shut up And Write group but it didn’t work out like it was supposed to. The train was an hour late and there were some other factors so we decided to go to our regular place down the road and eat and visit. We read for a bit in their comfy black chairs.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I am writing my essay about space in June but am not sure if I will publish it on Substack or not. I moved out of one year into another, I finished teaching two courses and I exited the room of a writing school I have worked for over the course of several years.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I am teaching the next round of the Bradbury Trio in August. You can find the information here:
You're Invited to a Gathering at the Table
The Bradbury Trio Course begins August 3, 2025 and I would love for you to join us!
The Book of Alchemy conversation and writing session will be the Full Moon writing and will be around July 10th.
If we were having coffee, I would ask you….how do you manage heat? As a winter girl, I have a hard time with long sustained days of heat and humidity. It makes me miss Iceland even more than I do on a regular daily basis.
Here are photos from this week:

I wish you a good week!! What are you obsessed with right now? I would love to know.
