I
The Bradbury Trio [reading a poem, an essay, and a story every day] fuels my writing.
I am inspired to write after reading this with this structure.
I hope the reading you do today leads you to writing that could have not been created any other way.
Here are some texts I found impactful:
Poem: Twelve Twelve Twelve
The structure of this poem intrigues me with the stanzas labeled with lowercase alphabet letters like an outline. I also like that it is written through the lens of a twelve-year-old!
I love Aimee’s writings no matter what form they take!
Bonus poem: The Paris Review poem of the day email newsletter is Lucille Clifton’s list poem “poem to my yellow coat” I enjoyed this poem and will write a red one in my notebook.
Story: I have an existential crisis on realizing my reading list is finite by Karan Chambers
The form of this story is striking to me.
I have been writing weirder stories and have been reading Okay Donkey more often. This piece is a more recent publication.
Essay: How seeing a 'book butler' reignited my love for reading
Modern Mrs Darcy shared this essay this week. It was published in Glamour magazine [which was a surprise to me]. I love the idea of a hotel with a library and a book butler to help you with recommendations. What book do you think would be recommended to you?
Have you read anything interesting this week that you need to share!? Please do so in the comments! I love recommendations and have found some of my favorite stories that way.
A little more about me: Tammy L. Evans is a writer, teacher, and coach living in a tiny house on a peninsula with her husband and adventure cat. Her location device is her loud laugh. She is currently working on a short story collection. Her poetry has been published in The Storyteller, FoxGlove Journal, Story Hall, Blue Insights, The Partnered Pen, and others. Her fiction has been published in Gone Lawn, Cabinets of Heed, Spelk, Five on the Fifth, Clover and White, Fiction Berlin Kitchen, and others.
I have become obsessed with Jane Charlie Ander's books. So far I have read two of her short story books and started her sci-fi trilogy Unstoppable.
I'm in my third month of doing the Bradbury Challenge and enjoying it.
Currently am reading stories from Kelly Corrigan's "Tell Me More" . Her story "Onward" was a loving tribute to her friend Liz - so moved me.
I'm also reading essays from Robert Fulghum's "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" (25th ed) has been enjoyable as well.
