Today is a full moon. This may not mean anything to you but I have been tracking the moon cycles for a long time. I pay attention to new moons and full.
The full moon effect on children is real as most teachers will attest to. I had a kindergarten class that would be wackado on a new moon and that was a change from the regular pattern I had witnessed in the past.
I am paying attention to the days left in 2024. As of today, there are 106 left. You should join me for a last #100days project!
I am paying attention to how many carbs I eat. I truly feel better when I eat less of them. Tonight dinner is grilled salmon and I am so excited!
What are you paying attention to?
The Bradbury Trio [reading a poem, an essay, and a story every day] fuels my writing.
I am inspired to write after reading this with this structure.
I hope the reading you do today leads you to writing that could have not been created any other way.
Here are some texts I found impactful:
Poem: https://thepoetrybox.com/clearing-out-by-marilyn-johnston
I cleaned out clothes yesterday. I only have so much space and too many clothes I “might” wear someday. I vowed to myself to get rid of the clothes that have stories attached to them I no longer wish to dwell on.
PROMPT: The clothes have stories attached to them…
Poem #2: Fern Hill
I seem to be drawn to poems that have apples in them for some reason! There is a magical stillness to thoughts of sitting under trees and reading or writing or just watching the world go by.
Prompt: Write a piece about sitting somewhere magical for you.
Story: CDEFGA
The structure and the use of numbers in this piece intrigues me and I play with it in my notebook. I haven’t gotten anywhere yet, but it is fun to play!
Prompt: Use math or numbers in an unusual way in a piece today.
Essay : 22 Revision Prompts
Prompt: Use one of the 22 ideas on a piece you have already written!
Have you read anything interesting this week that you need to share!? Please do so in the comments! I love recommendations and have found some of my favorite stories that way.
Special thanks to those readers who are inspired to write their own posts based on the readings I share! Thank you for tagging me!
Happy Llama Tuesday! Celebrate accordingly!
A little more about me: Tammy L. Evans is a writer, teacher, and coach living in a tiny house on a peninsula with her husband and adventure cat. Her location device is her loud laugh. She is currently working on a short story collection. Her poetry has been published in The Storyteller, FoxGlove Journal, Story Hall, Blue Insights, The Partnered Pen, and others. Her fiction has been published in Gone Lawn, Cabinets of Heed, Spelk, Five on the Fifth, Clover and White, Fiction Berlin Kitchen, and others.
Love the prompts, Tammy. Can you share the links to the articles on constraints? Like you, I believe that constraints enhance creativity, but I don’t have any proof.
Isn't it bizarre how you'll think, "Okay, everyone's acting flat-out *weird* today," then look up into the night sky later and sure enough, there's the ol' full moon.
Thanks for sharing CDEFGA, that's a swell piece! His use of the prices is effective.
