This post is inspired by Modern Mrs. Darcy.
WHAT IS SAVING YOUR LIFE RIGHT NOW?
This is a question Modern Mrs Darcy answers occasionally on her website. I have been reading this blog for a long time; too many years to count. Other friends of hers have done their own versions.
The Pivot Year – I read a page of this book every morning and then respond to it in my notebook.
Tarot cards – although I do not pull cards every day lately, I find the art and the pings in my brain notable things to write about
Poetry – always. I read The Paris Review poem every day. There is the Slowdown podcast too. but since Ada Limon is not the host anymore, it isn’t my favorite. I prefer the On Being poetry podcast. I have found a new to me Substack that links poems to her posts that I have been reading as well. I reread the poems I have curated for my own Bradbury Trio course.
Walking fairly long distances, mostly daily. Chris and I also walk for 2 miles after dinner (almost) every night and that is fueling for me in so many ways.
Sparkle Water – I buy the brand Aldi sells. It helps me with fasting and I like the taste and feel of it in my mouth. (Funny note – I don’t have to fight anyone for these cans in my house…it is the one thing that Chris will not consume. In fact, he took a sip one time and gagged. That was a new experience! LOL)
6. Not leaving the house. I say all the time it is a good day when I do not have to leave. I have my regular loop in town of library and Aldi. Once in a while another errand gets thrown in there.
7. Being a student, not a leader. Last weekend, I was able to attend two classes where I didn’t have to take a leadership role at all. There are some instances I try to show up as a student and have to switch hats because of issues that come up and that is getting tiresome. I realized I have to change my mindset before the meetings in order to keep my own anxiety down about the whole thing.
Cooking - I love to cook for my family, and they love to eat so it works out. I have been making some different recipes this past week to keep the variety up!
New Inspiration! I am celebrating my birthday month with a free 10-minute a day creativity challenge! It starts on Saturday!
I'd have to say swimming and writing are saving my life right now. I'm scheduled for hip replacement in June so walking is out but I can swim--Yay!
