My story imagines the vending machine in the world of Jack and the Beanstalk... People get eaten by lazy giants who can't be bothered to climb down the beanstalk and hunt for people. In my story they get saved, starting a war between the giants who don't want to eat people anymore and those who only eat people.
I like the idea of a vending machine stocked with highly skilled tiny people who can do different jobs. I might try to write a version of the story set in the world of The Shoemaker and the Elves, where little people get bought/hired to do specific tasks. :-)
