I don't think I've ever heard of the Bradbury Trip, but I love the concept!

It is simple but actionable! It has also opened me up to readings I would have not read. In my writing group, we share pieces that we are reading for our individual trios and there is always something that is brought to my attention that I would have never come across any other way. It is so fun!

I want to know more about this approach! How fascinating, the analogy of the bee gathering the pollen from flowers to make a nectar honey like a reader does with books - to flavor life with wildflowers and tupelo and all strains of colors. Have you read Pat Conroy's cookbook? If you like cookbooks with the backstories of recipes, his is one you might want to check out. It's fascinating how food shapes us - - not just literally shapes us in the physical caloric sense, but in the times around the table, in the kitchen, chewing on what's important in life with those important in our lives. Beautiful post!

I had never heard of Ray Bradbury's reading challenge! Very interesting and it certainly would enlarge a person's view of life. Thank you for writing about it and bringing it to my attention. Apropos of reading inspiration, I am doing a summer reading challenge of a different type. The Carterhaugh School of Folklore and the Fantastic has a very non-traditional list of summer reading challenges. It includes "read a book with a blue cover," and "read a book by an academic authority on folklore," among other unusual suggestions.

Thank you! I will check out the reading challenge.

The Bradbury Trio has been a major influence on my writing in such a good way that I love sharing it. I am starting to think about how to share more of how I use the pieces. Sometimes I just read and absorb them (and enjoy or not) and then move on. I think sometimes I learn more from a piece I do not care for more than one I love!
