Oh the library! **happy sigh** Just saying the word brings such wonderful feelings to me! I, too, don’t purchase many paper books—I have some favorites on my shelves I like to see there and pet now and again lol, but in general these days I prefer to borrow via the Libby app and read on my iPad or Kindle (ease of lighting and print size adjustments). I adore the library and am there often—both to wander the book stacks (I take pictures of the books I want to look up digital versions via the Libby app they use) and to settle in and write awhile. The little library branch I frequent once or twice a week for writing sessions somehow has both a quiet space and community space vibe. Sometimes I write at a table amid everything—kiddos darting about between books and computers, a chatty cross stitching group, study sessions in the corners—other times I settle into one of the study rooms for more quiet, focused work time. Some days a bit of both! ;)
I don't get to my local library enough. It's a Carnegie library and has a nice old section with a fireplace. Unfortunately, most contemporary novels have a long waitlist--and I'm not that patient. My friend was recommending the Kobo as it works with our library system. I feel the same about novels, but do need to get the chance to read them at least once. I have a little library at home, I prefer for writing. I need quiet when I write, or read. I was saddened to hear the rise in volume at a local libray. They were watching something on their phone. Maybe they need quiet spaces and some not-as quiet spaces, more communal areas?
There is one room that is the quiet reading room in my branch. They moved the children's sections upstairs now which is good since it is always louder just by nature. Hoopla is that app that works with our library so I use that quite a bit.
I have used a lease and the official post office change of address forms in addition to a license. There was one small branch library that would not take any of that though. I couldn't check anything out, just visit , but I didn't end up living in that apartment for long.
Lovely read - my local library is a quiet one .. still gives the feeling of serene camaraderie..
What a lovely sentence this is my friend!
My local library is tiny and with the kindest staff. It also hosts art exhibitions.
A library visit and art too! Sounds like a perfect artist date!

I use my local library often, and have tried several times unsuccessfully to work there.
You have to have quite a number of degrees, I understand even for the low pay. 😔
I love my local library. I may be moving soon and I’ve been worrying how to prove my residency! I’m at least a once a week visitor!
